Ideas for your own personal closet design, including which <a href="http://www.closethangerfactory.com"title="Clothes Hangers">clothes hangers you might want. Specialty shirt hangers, skirt hangers, dress hangers, and pants hangers all save space.

Coming up with your own personal closet design can be really rewarding. You can personalize the space to meet your specific needs. You can make it as ornate or streamlined as you wish. You can make adjustable spaces so that the closet changes with the seasons and your wardrobe.

First you just need to pull everything out. Write down the measurements of the closet. You will need to decide how much space you need for each type of item. Some things that you normally fold might take up less space if you switched over to using clothes hangers instead.

Pants take up less space if they are hung. This also helps them to stay wrinkle free. They are easier to look through and you don’t have to worry about the stack turning into a muddled pile. When pants are hung up high, it is easy to look at the tags. It’s a good plan if you have a lot of jeans, khaki pants, black dress pants, or other pants that all look similar.

Hanging pants on a special pants hanger can make them easier to manage. Pants hangers normally are open on one side so that you can easily slide out the pants. Cascading pants hangers are nice too, because you can hang a few pairs of pants on one hanger.

Sweaters also take up a lot of room when folded, but you may not want to hang some of the heavier ones. Sweaters can stretch and lose their shape if they are too heavy. You could opt for a wide shallow drawer in your closet, specifically for storing sweaters flat. You can mount the drawer under a large shelf where you stack t-shirts, shorts, pajamas and other items that you choose not to hang.

Baskets and bins are great for small items, like socks and underwear. You can also keep things besides clothes in bins, like camera chargers, books, tote bags, and other items that don’t normally go in a closet. You can put bins and baskets anywhere. You can put them on a shelf, build small cubby-hole style shelves for them, or even put them on the floor. They keep things from getting mixed together and make the closet look more organized and clutter free.

You can customize the space as much as you wish. If you would rather have more shelves, you can build them up one side of the closet. You can shorten your eight foot hanging bar into two four foot bars, hanging one high for pants and one low for shirts. An additional one foot bar can be mounted off to one side for hanging dresses and suits. Choose the type of <a href="http://www.closethangerfactory.com"title="Clothes Hanger">clothes hanger that you want based on what you have to hang.

Have fun when you design your closet. Get creative and ask friends or family for their opinions. You’ll be surprised what you can come up with. Your plans can be adjusted as you consider the space that you’ll save by using special <a href="http://www.closethangerfactory.com"title="Clothes Hangers">clothes hangers. Shirt hangers, skirt hangers, pants hangers, and dress hangers can all keep your clothes organized and save space.

Most people would love to buy a fancy closet system. Oh, how wonderful it would be to have endless storage and a place for everything to go! But, most busy people just don’t have the time or the money to spend on the closet. It gets pushed further and further down the to-do list until it is highly unlikely that it will ever get done. These steps will give you a quick and easy alternative to that major closet overhaul that you would like to do, but can’t afford to do, or that you simply can’t find the time to commit.

1) Quickly get rid of excess items. A lot of us will store clothing in our closet for years before we decide that we’ll never wear it again. If something has a stain, toss it. If it just doesn’t fit right, get rid of it. If you haven’t worn it in a year or two, give it away. It really doesn’t take long to bag or box up items to give to charity. Sift through clothing and quickly and try not to think twice about what you should give away. If you’re nervous about it, box it up anyway and store it in the garage. After a few weeks or months, see if you still really care about giving it up. Shoes, purses, ties, blankets, sheets and even suitcases can be cleared out. Most people only use a little over 50% of what is in their closet!

2) Help yourself find what you need when you need it. Group together like items so that you can quickly get ready in the mornings. Do whatever works best for you. Put your work clothes on one side and your casual clothes on the other. Divide up the groups by length and type of clothing. You can even organize by color if you choose. Whatever you do, it won’t take but about five minutes to tackle.

3) Find ways to keep the closet clutter free. Hang a hook in an inconspicuous spot inside of your closet. Hang a plastic grocery bag or trash bag there. When you run across clothing that you’ve decided to not wear again, toss them into the bag instead of storing them back inside of your closet like you normally would. Maybe you wore a shirt that you thought you liked, but were constantly pulling at it all day, or it just has an itchy feel to it. Just make a point to continually get rid of clothing that you don’t really need.

4) Make space in the closet using specialty hangers. You can make the most space on your closet rod by using different types of hangers. Hangers designed for certain items also keep them from becoming misshapen. You can purchase <a href="http://www.closethangerfactory.com"title="Shirt Hangers">shirt hangers, <a href="http://www.closethangerfactory.com"title="Skirt Hangers">skirt hangers, pants hangers, and dress hangers to keep your clothing nice and neat inside of the closet.

Learn how to quickly, easily and inexpensively get you closet organized using <a href="http://www.closethangerfactory.com"title="Shirt Hangers">shirt hangers, pants hangers and dress hangers.

Use these tips to help you get your closet functioning in an organized way. Once it’s ready to go, you won’t have to do much maintenance throughout the year.

1. Give as much away as possible.

Do a good deed while cleaning your closet. Donate clothes that don’t fit right, have small stains or are simply not your favorites. Ask your friends and family if they would like to sift through before you give them away. Another idea is to have a yard sale and make money to invest in your new closet.

2. Divide your wardrobe into summer and winter sets.

Most people have way too much to fit into one closet. So, putting half of your wardrobe into storage can keep your closet looking nice and organized year round. If there isn’t room in your closet or garage to store out of season clothing, consider shallow containers that slide underneath your bed.

3. Add shelving and hanging bars.

Look around the closet and see if there is room to expand. If your ceiling is high enough, you could add a second bar to the closet. You could put a shoe shelf on the bottom, the bar at about waist-high, and then build a system of shelves, drawers and cabinets above that for storage.

4. Choose storage bins that can be easily maneuvered.

Be wary of buying bins, baskets or crates that are very large. Clothing is heavy. You will want containers that are easily moved around to ensure ease of use. You may want a bin for work socks, one for work-out socks, one for pajamas and one for underwear. Many closets have room on the front walls for small shelves that can hold all of these bins.

5. Thin out your shoe supply.

If you can, get rid of some shoes. If you just can’t, then consider keeping yard shoes in the garage, tennis shoes in the coat closet, and dress shoes in your bedroom closet. If you want, you can store them in clear boxes so that you can see which ones are inside. Store them with cedar closet accessories or a dryer sheet so that they do not start to smell.

6. Remove things that should not be kept in your closet.

Get rid of extra things that don’t belong in your closet. If you can’t figure out where to put them, then you may have to create a space. For example, sports equipment can go into an equipment organizer in the garage.

7. Hang your clothes on specialty hangers.

Now that you have room for your clothes, use specialty hangers to keep them from getting snagged, misshapen or crammed together. Use <a href="http://www.closethangerfactory.com"title="Shirt Hangers">shirt hangers that are designed to curve towards the back and down on the shoulders. This will keep the shirt from getting wrinkled or squeezed between other articles of clothing. Use a skirt hanger for skirts or shorts. Make sure that the clips are smooth and do not have sharp edges that can tear your skirts. A pants hanger will keep your pants from creasing at the knee.

Getting your closet in order will help you stay organized year round. Enjoy your spacious new closet!

You will be amazed what minor adjustments can create space in your closet. Use <a href="http://www.closethangerfactory.com"title="Shirt Hangers">shirt hangers and skirt hangers to categorize clothing.

Your closet may be a source of stress for you, but it doesn’t have to be that way. There are so many products on the market today to help you organize your space. Even the smallest and most mundane closet designs can be updated and creatively arranged to make the most of what you have and turn your unwieldy storage space into a luxurious closet that you’ll love.

Using space that is normally wasted is key. Using your creativity to make special storage for all of your belongings is also equally as important. Many people are professional organizers and use creative ideas to make the most of small spaces every day. You don’t have to be a professional to turn your closet into a place that is a pleasure to visit, but you can probably use some professional tips for making the job easier and ending up with the storage space that you dream of.

You may have a hanging bar just stuffed with clothing. Determine what really needs to be hung and get the rest out of there. If t-shirts, sweatshirts and other items can be stacked on shelves or in drawers, then you may be able to save yourself some space. Use specialty hangers, like skirt hangers, pants hangers, shirt hangers and coat hangers.

Keep like items together to create even more space. If you have pants next to dresses, next to skirts, next to shirts, then there probably isn’t much space beneath your hanging rod for much else. By arranging items by length, you can start to break up your closet into compartments. Your pants are going to all be about the same length. They should only hang down about 2 feet when hung on pants hangers. This can free up some space below for installing a shelving unit or some drawers.

You might even consider moving the bar up higher to make more space below. Sometimes you can even make room for a second bar below the top one, allowing you to space out and organize your clothing according to color, length, type, or use. This gives your closet a very spacious and organized feel without spending a lot of money on organization products.

If you need room for things other than clothes that can hang or stack on a shelf, then consider moving your hanging bar back towards the wall. Sometimes there is a good bit of wasted space behind your hanging clothes. Moving the bar back can make room for smaller shelves and hooks towards the front of the closet.

Using specialty hangers is a quick way to make a lot of space. Using <a href="http://www.closethangerfactory.com"title="Shirt Hangers">shirt hangers, skirt hangers, pants hangers and dress hangers keep your garments protected from wear, stretching and wrinkling. Adding creative touches, such as hooks, shelves and drawers can make your closet the storage space that you’ve always dreamed of.

Concentric design to keep the things that you use most where you will look first. Use specialty <a href="http://www.closethangerfactory.com"title="Shirt Hangers">shirt hangers and pants hangers to make room on the bar after you add shelves and drawers.

A well arranged closet will bring you such joy! Here are some basic tips for turning a small closet or a large one into a more usable space. Far too often we adjust our wardrobe to the closet that presented itself with the house. Conform no more! These tips are quick, easy and inexpensive.

Don’t depend solely on the bar. If you only wear suits and dresses, then a hanging bar may be just fine for you. But, most people need to keep a lot more of their belongings in the closet. Figure out which arrangement of bars and shelves best suits your needs and change it up a bit. You don’t have to get elaborate. You can move your bar up to make room for another one below. You can move it down to make room for shelves above. Divide the closet so that you have shelves on one side and bars on the other. Whatever suits your needs is what is best for you.

Utilize space that normally is ignored or goes unnoticed. If you read closet organization sites, you will notice the term “vertical space” mentioned over and over again. This is because people don’t notice just how much space they are wasting. Shelves can go up to the ceiling. Use bins and other containers to store small items.

The rule of thumb when organizing your closet is to keep the most used items right in front of your face. You can design your whole closet with this concept. Imagine and omni light, bright in the middle and fading out to the edges. The center focal point should be the first thing that you go for in the morning.

Let’s say that you shower and go straight for the closet to get dressed. You should probably have a laundry basket or bin for wet towels directly in front of you or just to the side of your closet. A hook for your robe should be easily reached from the center of your closet. Right in the middle you can install shallow drawers for underwear. Shallow is best because you can actually see what you have. Imagine if your dresser were designed like a large cabinet style tool box. Lots of shallow drawers means that things don’t get crammed to the bottom.

Next come shirts. Do you wear t-shirts? Can you fold and stack them on a shelf for easy access? Maybe put a shelf directly above your drawer. Then your hanging shirts should be right there within reach. Pants, coats, dresses, etc. should be arranged in the order that you normally put them on. Shoes do not have to be on the floor. You wear them every day. Reserve the floor, side areas and top shelves for items that are seldom used.

If you need to make better use of your hanging space after you install drawers and shelves, get specialty <a href="http://www.closethangerfactory.com"title="Shirt Hangers">shirt hangers and pants hangers that take up less space. You can coordinate outfits so that you can grab them and go, while saving up to half of the space on your bar by hanging them together. Enjoy your smartly designed closet!

Almost everyone has struggled with a bulging closet. Closets are notorious for becoming cram packed with too much junk. They become a quick hiding place for clutter when we have to speed clean. They get neglected and can hold the same, unworn clothing for decades. Well, it is time to clean that closet. It not only needs to be cleaned, but a system needs to be put in place to give you the extra room that you need to keep it organized.

Start by emptying the closet. Keep only what you really like to wear. After you thin the herd, you can begin to organize your clothes. Remember, the goal here is to create even more space than you actually need. This way, as time goes by and new clothing gets added, you do not have to start over. We want a closet that stays organized despite our best efforts to pack it full.

Now, you could spend hundreds, even thousands of dollars on a custom closet system. If you can afford it, it’s not a bad idea. But, for those of us looking for a quick fix for a long-term problem, we may want to look at some more cost-effective options.

The best closet trick in the book is to utilize the many specialty hangers that are on the market today. Hanger designs have made it possible to double or even triple the space in our closets. These special hangers used to only be available to stores and high end retailers. But, thanks to the internet, we can order luxury shirt hangers, skirt hangers, pants hangers, space saving hangers, slimline hangers, and more! The list goes on and on. But, the point is that you do not have to buy hundreds of one type to order straight from the best manufacturers out there.

So, order yourself some really sturdy hangers. Get all of the different types that you need to really make some space in your closet. Many hangers, like slimline hangers and metal salesman’s hangers, allow you to cascade items from one hanger to another.

For example, you can hang your shirt on a shirt hanger, your pants on a pants hanger, and then adjoin them with a cascading hook. This way, they are not only hung together and ready to wear, but they take up half the space that they did before. Salesman’s hangers have an extended neck to keep the pants or skirt hanging well below the shirt, making even more space. It may not seem like much, but all of the tiny bits of space that you save can add up.

Use specialty hangers, like <a href="http://www.closethangerfactory.com"title="Shirt Hangers">shirt hangers, along with these easy tips to get your closet organized.

Do you dread opening your closet door? Is everything crammed in from top to bottom, but you don’t want to spend a lot of money on a closet organization system? Never fear, help is just a few dollars away. Specialty hangers can double the space in your closet, instantly!

First things first, get rid of old shoes and clothes that you haven’t worn in a while. The golden rule of closet organization is, “If you haven’t worn it in a year, get rid of it.” Just grab a few garbage bags and start filling them up. Try not to think about it too hard or you’ll end up keeping too much. Some people keep things in their closets for decades because it’s “still good” or “barely worn”. Do you really need to fill up the space that you use every day with things that are just stored? Probably not.

If you have a lot of things that are still good or barely worn, go ahead and have a garage sale or take them to a consignment shop. Sometimes it’s easier to get rid of things if there is money involved! Or, have a swap party with some friends. Everyone can bring over usable items and have a big trade. Purses, hats, belts and shoes may be old junk to one person and a treasured find for another. Another option is to give everything you can to charity. Use the donation as a tax deduction and a feather in your good karma hat.

Clear out other junk as necessary, but your main goal for a quick fix is to get everything off of that crammed up bar. If you hang a lot of shirts and pants, you may be able to move the top shelf up higher. Then, move the hanging bar up higher. Not so high that you can’t reach, but high enough to install a second hanging bar at about hip-height. This plan may not work if you have a lot of dresses, suits and long coats, but if you have a walk-in closet, you may be able to install two bars on one or two walls and keep one bar by itself for longer hanging items.

Use specialty hangers to save even more space. <a href="http://www.closethangerfactory.com"title="Skirt Hangers">Skirt hangerscan hold many skirts flat on one hanger. Pants hangers keep pants from wrinkling while keeping them easily accessible. Dress hangers keep your dresses from slipping off on to the floor. Cascading hooks can be used to pair up tops and bottoms, saving room by using the space of one hanger on the bar. Choosing the right hangers and accessories can keep your closet organized and spacious.

Choose storage options that fit your personality and you'll be more likely to keep it organized. From <a href="http://www.closethangerfactory.com"title="Shirt Hangers">shirt hangers to armoires, we've got the solution for you.

Having the proper storage can help you keep things organized. Whether you like dressers or closet drawers, armoires or rolling hanging bars, you are sure to stay more organized when your storage fits your habits, personality and décor.

First, determine what style fits your room. Choose storage that is consistent with your theme, even if you do not want a rigidly themed room. You can create a feeling of romance, loyalty, glamour, sophistication, cleanliness or even an urban feel by properly selecting your storage.

If your bedroom is neat and efficient, almost minimalist, you probably do not want a lot of bulky furniture. Most people that love clean lines and empty space choose an elaborate closet organization system to make sure nothing ever gets cluttered. At most they probably have a low, simply designed bedside table or low profile dresser.

You can increase the feeling and appearance of space in a room like this by using mirrors and keeping furniture low profile. Platform beds are popular in a minimalist room. Furniture, however, is not. The closet is key here. Whether you have a big closet or a small one, you should make sure that your closet system is consistent with your room’s feel. If possible, match up shelves with the platform bed, lamps, lighting fixtures or whatever else is themed in your room. Black shelves on a white wall look sharp and crisp. Shallow drawers help keep all of those little accessories in their place.

Minimalist closets generally do not have things hanging on hooks or piled on the floor. Everything should be tucked away in its own little space, out of sight. That is why cabinets and drawers are so popular. Use metal hangers, not wire, for a utilitarian feel. Shirt hangers and pants hangers can be combined with cascading hooks to keep space between each thing on the bar. Using specialty hangers will definitely help you keep your closet looking as great as your bedroom.

If you have an elaborate four-poster bed, you are probably more into armoires and dressers. You may enjoy the antique feel or the boldly romantic feel of large, wood furniture. Armoires add a nice touch to bare spaces and make a beautiful focal point in a big room. If this is your style, then you may want to extend the theme into your closet.

Instead of installing wire rack shelves or using a lot of plastic containers, use wood. Wood shelves give your closet a beautiful look that does not interfere with the feeling you created with your bed, dresser and armoire. Canvas containers or baskets do not detract from the style as much as plastic does, so consider them when looking at closet storage options.

Your hangers should also be wood. Don’t think that you are stuck with one kind of hanger if you choose wooden hangers. You can get shirt hangers, skirt hangers, pants hangers and <a href="http://www.closethangerfactory.com"title="Dress Hangers">dress hangers that all match. Use cedar accessories or cedar hangers to make your closet smell as good as it looks.
